Spirit Walk . . .
|
a journey through the chakras
|
Spirit Walk is a gentle walk around the outside perimeter of the Healing Gardens of Rural Rootz. It is a reflective walk that gently guides you on a journey through the woods and through the Chakras of the body. Along the length of this trail are seven stations each with a fanciful dragon and a painting specially created to honour each of the seven Chakras. I created these paintings specifically for this woodland experience. I added a Personal Credo to help you reflect on the meaning of the painting you are looking at and how it works to direct the Universal Energy within the body. |
Nothing New Under The Sun
May you live your life completely!
Round and round your thoughts keep going Sometimes speeding, sometimes slowing. Thinking is one way to travel. In the end it’s only babble. You "thought" you knew the way to go. You "thought" you had some time to grow. You "thought" the journey would begin. You “thought" ... but never looked within. You learned and grew through all your years You grew and conquered many fears You never questioned how you knew Or even if those thoughts were true. Can it be wrong the things you think? Who made the rules from which you shrink? Hush! Still your thoughts and question them. From thoughts the worst of problems stem. Your Spirit had to readjust And wait for YOU to come to trust! Your Inner Wisdom all along Has been your Guide and kept you strong. That powerful light that shines from you Will trigger light in others too. Let Spirit shine and lead the way In how you love and live and play. Dee Cherrie Ashman |
The word “Chakra” is a Sanskrit word dating back over 2500 years meaning “spinning wheel, vortex or circle”. These spinning wheels are considered centres of spiritual power which aid in balancing, and distributing life force throughout the body. This belief in Chakras and its application in healing began in India and was part of Aryuvedic medicine. This was a field of healing that uses “Ajur” meaning life and “Veda” meaning knowledge. The practitioners relied on a mixture of herbal treatment, physical exercise and meditation to treat their patients.
Those capable of seeing the Chakras see them as vibrant circles of energy lying along the axis of the spine. A Chakra is seen as coloured energy vortex. There are seven in all starting with red at the base of the spine, and ending with purple at the crown of the head. These Chakras, assist in the running of your body, mind and spirit through the subtle energy field that exists within every one of us. They help to distribute “life force” throughout our physical body. Through the millennia the sages have come to understand how these Chakras affect this subtle energy contained within the body. Western medicine is discovering that these Chakras coincide with the positions along the spinal cord of the major nerve ganglia in the body. Combining this ancient knowledge and modern physiological understanding, gives rise to a new holistic way of working with the body. Using tools of meditation, visualization and positive affirmations, makes it possible to balance the “dis-ease” of the body. Understanding the functions of each Chakra and meditating on them, becomes one of the most powerful ways for reaching a state of homeostasis. With attention given to the Chakras and allowing them to open their natural energy flow, healing and harmonization can occur more easily. |
